Abstract

Bakrie University in collaboration with local government of West Nusa Tenggara develop Black Soldier Fly Larvae Cultivation or BSF or what we know of Lalat Tentara Hitam (Indonesian Language). In order to support Zero Waste Program, Zero Waste West Nusa Tenggara is one of forefront program from West Nusa Tenggara local government.

In the previous research Bakrie University is supported by matching fund program with Ministry of Education Research and Technology with research title of Organic Garbage using the basis of Black Soldier Fly Maggot Cultivation and application creation for Garbage Gathering Integrated to support Zero Waste program which headed by Mrs. Deffi Ayu Puspito Sari from Environmental Engineering Study Program Bakrie University, have built Larvae BSF Cultivation Installation in Midang Village West Nusa Tenggara, this installation has helped to solve the problem of piling up garbage in the village of Midang and increased the community economy supported by the creation Garbage Gathering Application with the name of ZEWES has made a system that created from research done by Bakrie University to become environmental problem solving model in local area in the previous research headed by Deffi Ayu Puspito Sari, Ph.D. from Environmental Engineering Study Program Bakrie University in collaboration with DD Tekno and LAZ Dasi NTB we built BSF Installation with the size 20 times 8 meter in Midang village, West Nusa Tenggara.

This model can be applied in other places to solve environmental problem and also the community empowerment and to increase community economy. Other than the installation built by Bakrie University, the community already had BSF Installation that cultivated in private, as according to the previous result of research there are still many problems in cultivation that have not been solved for example the community complains about the non-optimum of larvae growth, the dead larvae, not knowing how to control the pest such as ants and rats. How to dry and pack the product properly and also many other problems. That is why through funding program the research of Campus freedom Learning Policy and community service using research result basis and prototype. Private University in collaboration with Bakrie University Directorate General Higher Education Research and Technology, we have done Community Service from the research result with the title of Larvae Black Soldier Fly Cultivation Training to support Zero Waste and increase the community empowerment. The goal of Training is to increase Technical Capacity, Social and Economy in Larvae BSF Cultivation.

Next plan will be capacity building training in Lombok especially for the Head of villages that have high potential to develop BSF Cultivation in their own villages. The main problem in Midang village is the garbage problem, there were many efforts have been done to approach this problem such as by burning the garbage with unclear problem solving, but more than that what I really want is to make the garbage into potential material and it can be a blessed.
